After two weeks of observing mucus of the same quantity, quality or sensation, you may resume sexual relations on alternate evenings. This is called the Basic Infertile Pattern. However, when a change is noted, it could mean that your fertile phase has begun. You may notice an increase in amount, quantity, quality or a change in sensation. Abstain during the days of change until the Peak of fertility is observed, plus three full days. On the other hand, you may return to your Basic Infertile Pattern of unchanging mucus. If Peak is not reached, continue applying the Early Day Rules: sexual relations are open to the couple only in the evenings of every other day unless there is a change in quantity, quality or sensation.
